Eclipse of a Woman – Black Sun
In Eclipse of a Woman – Black Sun, the female figure emerges like an apparition suspended between light and mystery. The face, reduced to its essential forms and marked by soft, almost archaic lines, presents itself to the viewer with solemn calm. The eyes, slightly distant and contemplative, seem to guard a silent knowledge, as if observing beyond the surface of the visible world.
A fiery aura radiates around the head — a sun of reds, oranges and yellows that evokes the primordial force of light. Yet this brightness is not a complete revelation: the woman’s face is partially veiled by a dark drapery, marked by pale scratches that resemble incisions or traces of memory. It is here that the “eclipse” suggested by the title takes place.
The Black Sun becomes the symbol of an inner presence: a shadow that does not negate light but transforms it. The veil does not merely conceal; it suggests a deeper dimension of feminine identity, made of strength, secrecy and protection.
The painting alternates compact surfaces with nervous, scratched marks, creating a dialogue between order and tension. The face appears almost iconic, while the dark fabric vibrates with instinctive gestures, as if the pictorial surface had been crossed by a primordial impulse.
The work therefore stands between figuration and symbol: the woman is not simply a portrait but an archetypal figure, suspended between revelation and concealment. In this tension between light and darkness the heart of the painting emerges — femininity as a space of mystery, energy and transformation.

Artwork Description
The words “Sole Nero” (Black Sun), inscribed within the painting, function as a textual key to interpret the visceral image. The rigid support — cardboard mounted on board — allowed the artist to load and scratch the paint surface, creating a tactile dimension that enhances the luminosity of the halo and the textures of the dark fabric.
