Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis

A vertical narrative of becoming.

“Metamorfosi” (2010) unfolds along a strikingly elongated format (20 × 100 cm), conceived as a symbolic ascent. The composition guides the gaze upward: from the human face — introspective and suspended — toward the blossoming rose that crowns the upper register of the canvas.

The transformation is not abrupt but gradual, expressed through delicate acrylic textures and rhythmic crescent motifs orbiting the flower. These subtle lunar forms suggest cycles of renewal, linking inner evolution with natural law.

The rustic wooden frame, finished in softly distressed pink and silver tones, is not merely decorative but integral to the work’s identity, enhancing its poetic and slightly surreal character.

An investigation into the fluidity of being.

The extreme verticality of the format reinforces the concept of progression: from thought to transformation, from identity to bloom. The face emerges softly from the pictorial surface, while the rose becomes a symbol of completion and renewal.

The crescent-shaped motifs introduce a cyclical rhythm, echoing lunar phases and suggesting that metamorphosis is not rupture but evolution.

The distressed pink-and-silver wooden frame forms an integral part of the composition, expanding the narrative beyond the painted surface.

Rustic wooden frame with distressed pink and silver finish, integral to the composition.
Its elongated vertical format makes it ideal for architectural transitions: columns, narrow walls, stair landings, or elegant corridors.

It also works beautifully as a statement accent in a bright living space where verticality can be fully appreciated.
