The After

The After

The calm after the storm.

The After captivates through its unconventional structure. Painted on a shaped plywood panel with softened corners, the work evokes the sensation of looking through a window—or a porthole—onto a wave-beaten cliff. Shades of turquoise, deep blue, and emerald green build a vibrant, almost three-dimensional depth that gently draws the viewer toward the horizon.

The strength of this work lies in its format: the artist abandons the traditional rectangle for a plywood panel with cut corners. This choice transforms the painting into a art object that appears to be cut directly from the landscape. The mixed media allows for the overlapping of the water's colors (turquoise, emerald), creating transparencies and depths typical of the sea after a storm. Having no traditional frame, the painting interacts directly with the wall on which it is hung.

Entryway or Hallway: Its contoured shape breaks the monotony of the straight lines typical of hallways. Perfect above a narrow console table to add depth to the space. Gallery Wall: In a composition of rectangular paintings, it becomes the piece that breaks the pattern and draws attention with its cut corners. Bathroom or Relaxation Area: The cool colors and the water element make it ideal for spaces dedicated to personal care, where it induces calm and contemplation.
